Google Picasa Tips

Send images to the album without uploading them

In addition to the standard methods used for updating your web albums using Upload or Picasa 3, now you can even send images simply via mail to your album. Log on to your Google mail account from Picasa by entering your ID and password. Then click on the upper right side of the mail address in the title bar on the cog wheel symbol. Now, open the “Photo settings” tab. Activate the option “Allow me to upload photos by email” in the section “Upload photos by email”. A field for entering a password will appear. This word must have six to fi fteen words/numbers long. Based on this secret word Google build a new, cryptic mail address and presents this below the entry field. Make a note of this address. You can now click on “Save changes” option.

In the future, you can load photos in your Picasa photo album wherein you can simply send the images directly to your special mail address. You can share this address with your friends and family so that the photos, for instance from a common picnic, can be sent directly to their albums. However, you will have to their albums. However, you will have to give the exact name of the album in your message so that the images are stored in the appropriate location. Otherwise, Picasa simply stores the received images in the album called “Scrapbook Photos”. You can send photos to Picasa in the JPG, GIF or PNG format with an overall size of about 20 MB.
